This is a rough and somewhat playable (but very buggy) prototype. This game was intended as a learning project for each of us, so in that regard, it was successful! However, due to the limited time for polish and playtesting, game flow and quality of life functionality is not where we wanted it to be.
Known Possible Bugs
- Errors in our data and filenames may cause the game to break
- Many recipes do not have unique results due to time constraints
- Cooked dishes do not have icons due to time constraints
- No VFX or SFX for actions that we wanted to have them for due to time constraints
- Best practices for file management were ignored to attempt to maintain basic gameplay functionality due to time constraints
- Portals serve no purpose due to time constraints
Original Concept and Intended Experience
Captured by an all-powerful Demonlord, you are forced to cook for the demons of hell. The various ingredients they bring you from the human world will go bad over time, so it's up to you to cook interesting dishes using what you have.
Feeding off of emotions and sentiment, the demons will enjoy just about anything you make (turns out, love is an ingredient in your cooking). You'll still score higher by putting the time and care into your dishes to meet their requests and using ingredients while they're freshest.
The limitation for the jam was "Time is your enemy". We didn't want to make a stressful cooking game, so we made food go bad over time. This does happen! But there's currently no UI to indicate this.
